Oris G. Baker, 92, Rochester, passed away at 5:24 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.

He was born on Feb. 25, 1927, in Rochester, the son of Howard Ray and Sarah “Sadie” (Estabrook) Baker.

On Dec. 9, 1951, in Rochester, he married Mary P. Rentschler. She survives.

Oris had attended the International Business College, Fort Wayne, studying business administration, and had served with the United States Army.

Mr. Baker had worked as an accountant for Essex Wiring in Logansport for more than 35 years, retiring in 1992. He also operated Baker Vacuum Sales for almost 60 years. He had attended the Fulton Baptist Temple, Fulton, as well as Metea Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and repairing vacuums and was an avid reader of the Bible.

Survivors include his wife, Mary P. Baker, Rochester; daughters Mary Lynne (Phil) Frye, Fulton, and Rebecca (Jack) Aylor, Lake Zurich, Ill.; grandchildren Andy (Laura) Mulligan, Carmel, Matthew Frye, Indianapolis, Aaron Frye, Champaign, Ill., and Jason (Chereline) Frye, Savoy, Ill.; great-grandchildren Lily Mulligan, Gavin Mulligan, Aleah Frye, Aislin Frye and Matthew Frye II; brothers Philip (Marge) Baker, Phoenix, Ariz., and Jerry (Nancy) Baker, Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service was at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, at the Fulton Baptist Temple with Pastor Bruce Russell officiating. Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Burial is in the Fulton Cemetery, Fulton.
